Rob seems to be able to fix almost anything. The -v option will make the tar command more visible and print the names of the files being extracted on the terminal. Windows users will need a tool named 7zip to extract tar.gz files. It installed Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS Linux 2.6. To extract (unzip) a tar.gz file simply right-click on the file you want to extract and select Extract. So I put the system together and installed Pinbox (torrent version), following the Pinbox installation instructions PDF document. If anyone ever has a dead pin2k, then send it off to Rob Anthiny at lockwhenlit. The original Pinbox download did not include the game ROM’s, the torrent version does. The pinball2000 rom images are already included in this installation cd so skip step 14 of the installation process in 'Install Instructions.pdf'. the computer will reboot and then load the game software. When the system goes idle and the game is running it will trigger the screensaver and kill connection to the IO board and it won't reconnect properly.forcing you to reboot. Nucore returning is an after thought and too little too late. this will remove the screensaver entirely from the system. tar -xvfz path/to/file The big problem with tar is remembering all the other flags. Once Nucore evaporated people went to good techs or pinbox and all was good. Add that to your other flags (so -tvfz for a tar.gz, -tvfj for a tar.bz2, etc) and you can browse without extracting. From there you can extract single files quite easily. Second, many people quickly realized that there are plenty of good techs capable of taking care of a dead Pin2K. If Pinbox won't start after the installation try this (requires a network connection):sudo suapt-get purge lxdmmv /etc/lxdm /etc/lxdm.origapt-get install lxd. It is relatively easy to do, costs a reasonable amount, and is futureproof. I dont think it is a big deal that they have returned for 2 reasons.įirst, Pinbox is out there in the public domain. They obviously made some changes to the software since they "borrowed" (is that the right word for it) from the public domain previously. Guessing they wasted a bunch of money and time and Nucore coming back is part of the requirement of whatever agreement they came up with? Since it all went quite, all we can do is guess unless they want to come explain the situation. JMHO, but it was a BSD contest if you will. To me the entire thing from Nucore appeared to be more about the attempts at getting money for a product they were no longer producing. I am not sure what all transpired, but I assume it all got resolved between nucore and pinbox. This is the process that I performed on my system without any issues. So my answer is correct, as far as it goes. Just for reference I thought this was a big deal because there were going to be unplayable pin2ks because of this. I take no responsibility for the update of your system. The only working command in your edits is sudo tar xfz download.phpfile., which returns the error gzip: stdin: not in gzip format. i mean, why does no one seem to care? I thought this was gonna be abig deal once it was resolved, why am I wrong? is it because of the third party solution? Ok but hilton do you know what happened here? i saw your question about QEMU which was last where I left off.
